Design It Green is a platform dedicated to exploring the world of landscape architecture and urban design.

Design It Green's journey began in 2021 as a creative idea nurtured in the basement of Metro-Boston. Since then, it has flourished into a global community of over 15,000 students, designers, and architects.

At Design It Green, we are dedicated to exploring the world of landscape architecture and urban design through our videos, resources, and courses.
Our primary goal is to provide valuable and enriching content that benefits practicing landscape architects and designers, while also supporting students and aspiring professionals in their learning and growth. Through our educational materials, we aspire to foster a deeper understanding of landscape architecture and urban design, making these fields more accessible and comprehensible to all.

Carter Roy

Carter is the creator of Design It Green. A working professional with more than 3 years of professional experience since graduating in 2021 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts.

In his professional life he has worked on numerous projects and project types up and down the east coast including residential, commercial, institutional and public works.

In addition to his professional life and goals, he focuses the majority of his time on the Design It Green community, exploring the world of landscape architecture, teaching, and sharing his knowledge in hopes to ease the many challenging aspects we designers face over the many years in the field.

  • While the answer to this question certainly varies from person to person. A few reasons that make landscape architecture a great choice are creative expression, environmental impact, community impact, problem solving, continuous learning, hands on learning and many more.   • This is another question that largely depends on each person individually. But a great place to start is to think about what area in design you are more interested in. If you like the idea of working on buildings, and spatial planning of buildings then Architecture is right for you. And if you like the idea of working with everything that isn’t the building like parks, spatial planning of blocks, neighborhoods and cities, or various landscape settings, then choose landscape architecture!

    For the United States, it’s very important you attend a school that is an accredited program, this will not only provide you with more opportunities down the road but will also allow you to become professional licensed as soon as possible.
